A Traveler's Blog

Alamosa Farmers Market

Alamosa's well known and loved Farmers Market has returned for its 2023 season, and we couldn't be more excited! This Saturday gem hosts a variety of goods that will leave you wanting more each week. As the seasons change, so does the market. Offering fresh fruits and vegetables, succulent honey, fried pies, and even hatch green chili closer to fall, there is really something for everyone!

What to expect in the 2023 season

Alamosa Farmers' Market has found home in a new location this year in a newly paved parking lot! One can expect to see a packed market space offering something for everyone. Fresh fruits and vegetables, tie dye, dog treats, and so much more will be available to the public! Enthusiastic vendors will be set up and ready to sell each Saturday and can't wait to see you all.

We talked to Market Director and Coordinator Mandy Pittman about this exciting event series and she offered the following, "The Alamosa Farmers' Market is the San Luis Valley's longest running and largest market beginning in the early 1980s.  We have been in Downtown Alamosa since 2000 and in 2023 we moved to our new location on 6th between Edison and Ross.  We are very much a Valley event.  Where else can you go to see Amish vendors next to a vendor selling tie-dye?  We have a great selection of local and regional fresh produce including Palisades peaches, Olathe Corn, and Pueblo Green Chiles. Our vendors are creative and price their items fairly so you can walk out of the market with a lot of great items for a fair price.  I can't say enough great things about this market and have been proud to steward it for 11 seasons now. From regional favorites to surprising finds, the Alamosa Farmers' Market has just what you are looking for!"

New vendors to look forward to

The market is excited to say that many of the vendors this year are return vendors from last year! That being said, they are excited to have Tacos Martinez Food Truck on site this season. This is proving to be a customer favorite so far and we are sure that it will continue to be for the duration of the market season.

Hours, payment methods, and location

The Farmers Market is held each Saturday starting at 8:00am and ends at 1:30pm. The market will run through October 14. This year, they moved to a new location! You will find them on the corner of Ross and 6th Street in Alamosa. Vendors accept cash, debit, credit, SNAP, double up food bucks, and WIC vouchers.
