Sand Dunes Recreation is open year-round hot spring, but it is so much more! During the early 1930's hot water was struck near Hooper while drillers were exploring for oil.  The hot well water enters the 150,000 gallon pool at 118°F and the family pool's temperature is maintained between 98°F and 102°F, depending on the season. The adjoining 24-person therapy pool stays a consistent 108°F to 109°F.  The pool offers Colorado's best snack bar, The Mile Deep Grille.  Family fun, relaxation and rejuvenation, is just 20 miles from Alamosa! In 2015, the adults-only Greenhouse was built.  It includes four additional soaking pools, all at different temperatures, a ten-person sauna and their libation station, The Steel Box Bar.  Monday night is Cosmic Night with a discount for college and high school students, Tuesday is Family Night.  Sand Dunes Recreation offers swimming lessons, yoga in the Greenhouse, RV and tent sites, cabin rentals and sand board rentals.   There's nothing quite unwinding in this beautiful oasis.
